Wandsworth WI meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month, at 7.30pm - downstairs in the Alter Ego Bar at Harrison's, Balham.
We have a different speaker or activity at each monthly meeting, and also run a successful Book Club. We hold regular fundraising events and local bake sales to raise funds for our nominated charity - Wandsworth Women's Aid. Our members also meet up informally for theatre trips, supperclubs, craft workshops and modern craft fairs - in the local area, and also across London. Join us!

We are DELIGHTED to welcome volunteers Jacqui Wood and Cherry Conway-Hughes from the fabulous charity Fine Cell Work, to our May meeting on Tuesday 8th.
Fine Cell Work (www.finecellwork.co.uk) is a social enterprise that trains prisoners in paid, creative needlework undertaken in the long hours spent in their cells to foster hope, discipline and self-esteem. Their work is available to buy online and sold around the world.

It was about thirty years ago that my granny introduced me to crochet and I fell completely in love. Apart from a few years where I discovered boys and booze (long behind me now!) I have been crocheting ever since... Vanessa and I would love to have the opportunity to pass on our knowledge of this amazing craft which sadly is often seen as the poor cousin of knitting.

This month, we will be welcoming our fabulous speaker, Jack Izzard. As usual, we're gathering on the second Tuesday of the month - 13 March at 7.30pm, Alter Ego bar, downstairs at Harrisons, Bedford Hill, Balham.
Jack is a former BBC foreign correspondent, who will be speaking about his career on the frontline of news. At a time when our fearless foreign correspondents are very much in the news themselves, and when esteemed names have even lost their lives to their craft, it will be fascinating to gain a real insight into this world.
